We are excited to offer, again this year, our CSA shares membership. This year will be our sixth year adding this venue to our farm market. We enjoy packaging up weekly boxes for each of our supportive members! Community Supported Agriculture is another way for us to offer fresh-picked vegetables, berries, and fruit to your household.
Each week you will receive your allotted amount of fresh produce and sometimes we add extra goodies as a treat. We want you to have the ultimate of the freshest produce possible, so we pick everything fresh that morning of your pick-up date, same as we do here for our farm market store every morning. Freshness and diversity is important to us. Growing in a healthy sustainable environment is very important to us too, so that what we are doing will be beneficial to the foods, the land, and you.
If you would like to learn more about our CSA, please give us a call at 608-254-2311 or e-mail us with your questions at countrybumpkinfarm@yahoo.com. When leaving a phone message, please include your phone number twice. Thank you. Otherwise, if you'd like our CSA Sign-Up Form to review and sign up with us, you may click on the link down below under "How do I join?" This will give you our .pdf file for printing our 3-page packet.
To give you a little more insight, here are answers to a few frequently asked questions:
What will my family receive? All the same goodies that you already know about from visiting our farm market over the past 19 years! When a vegetable or fruit or berry becomes ripe and available, you will see it in your shares! Some of our early and late weeks in the season, when our choices of fresh produce are less, we may also add our own honey, maple syrup, and other food items that we have available at our farm market. We have added farm fresh brown eggs, cheese, pickles, and organic pancake flour mix, all locally grown or made. Berries is the favorite item that all our share members want the most of, so we make sure to do that (!!)
What choices will we see in our shares? We grow everything from asparagus and strawberries in the early months, along with herb plants and flowers, to blueberries, raspberries, lettuce, kohlrabi, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, cantaloupe, watermelons, sweet corn, cucumbers, tomatoes, peas, beets, green beans, sweet onions, peppers, herbs such as sweet basil, parsley and dill, eggplant, pickles, zucchini, apples, winter squash, brussel sprouts, pie pumpkins, yummy popcorn, and . . . well, you get the picture!
What is the frequency? Each share is for a 22-week period. This year, the first pick-up will be on Wednesday, May 18th, 2016, anytime from 12-noon to 6:00 p.m. This will continue through to Wednesday, October 12th. I send an e-mail reminder to each member the night before the day of pick-up.
Which size is best for us, a full-share or a half-share? Every family is different. One person alone will have an ample amount with a half-share, and can even freeze some produce for the winter. Sometimes a half-share is enough for a couple, or even a family with children, depending on their lifestyle and no real desire to put food away for the winter. A full-share is great for couples and families that want a nice choice of fruits and veggies for the entire week, and at the same time, can sometimes freeze some produce to have as a treat in the winter. Some full-share members also share their goodies with relatives or friends.
How do I join? Fill out and return our CSA Sign-Up Form, (click on this link to print form), along with payment, by May 1st, so we know what extras to plan for our growing season. As per your request, we will also send this form to you in the mail, upon receiving your snail-mail address.
